CNN vs. iReport

The top stories on CNN.com provide a look at international current events. Examples of top CNN stories are "Man guilty of plot to behead Canadian PM," "China launches crew into orbit for first spacewalk," and "Mad cow disease kills mother and son." These stories provide essentially just the facts of these international current issues.

In contrast, the vast majority of iReport stories are about issues to which the common person can relate. iReports are "stories from the community" and feature "unedited, unfiltered news." Because of this, most of the iReports are commentaries made by average citizens about curent events that most impact the general public. Nearly all of the posts are about either the current presidential election, the price of gas and the state of the economy.

CNN.com reports world news that may or may not directly impact the lives of the common person, whereas iReport provides a place for average citizens to report or make commentary on the issues that play an immediate role in their everyday lives. iReport reports the stories that are more relevant, more important and more concerning to the people, as determined by the people.
